[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Water stress is a deficit in “normal” availability1 of crop water, which causes a decrease in photosynthesis leading to reduced growth and production rates.
When does water stress occur?
During the hot months the high temperatures leads to the evapotranspiration (transpiration + evaporation) of the crops and it is easy for water stress to occur.
Irrigation water with a high salt content produces water stress, which is equivalent to water stress since it reduces the availability of water for the plant, making its normal development difficult. This high salinity may be accompanied by phytotoxicity when such irrigation waters contain high concentrations of certain ions (e.g. chlorides)
How does it affect the crop?
The consequences can range from reduced harvesting to plant death in the most extreme cases. Normally the crop reduces its growth and produces less. Sometimes the plant may respond with increased or excessive flowering, but the fruits are smaller in size and quality.

Solutions that act synergistically to alleviate water stress
Facilitating the storage of water in the soil.
HUMECPLUS is a product designed to optimize the distribution of water in the profile, when the soil has a light texture limiting the percolation out of reach of the roots, it also facilitates the penetration of water in compacted soil, thus increasing the volume of water used and available to the roots.
Increasing water availability by fighting salinity
ROMBISAL fights salinity when applied together with the irrigation water facilitating the washing of salts out of the root environment. This relieves osmotic stress and increases the availability of water through the plant.
Reducing water loss through fabrics
PLYSILC provides silica that is deposited as a gel under the epidermis, limiting evaporation. In addition, along with the silica crystals deposited on the surface, the leaves are less appetizing to chewing insects, which limits the resulting damage and water loss 2
Increasing crop resistance to water stress
BETAPRO thanks to its ingredients it better resists the lack of water or its inferior quality.
- Mannitol: relieves osmotic stress and is a powerful antioxidant.
- Alginic acid: Alginates are characterized by their ability to promote hydration.
- Betaine glycine: the exogenous application of betaine glycine protects plants from dehydration and increases their tolerance to saline conditions. In addition, it has a positive effect on photosynthesis and increased leaf mass under conditions of high temperature, excessive sunshine or salinity.
